Physical& chemical property: its anhydride is white crystal, easy to be dissolved, relative density is 1.856 (14 Celsius degree), melting point is 1180 Celsius degree. soluble in wate(at 10 Celsius degree, the solubility is 15.4g/100ml water, at 90 Celsius is 57.2g/100ml water); react with acids and generate hydrogen disulfide which is slightly soluble in water and insoluble in aether; it water solution is strongly alkaline; its ndustrial products are mostly pink or red brown; corrosive and toxic, it can be oxidized in the air.
Use: as raw material to produce sulfur dyes such as ulphur black and sulfur blue;as dyeing auxiliaries to dissolve sulfur dyes; used to produce sodium polysulfide;as cooking agent in the paper-making industry; as mordant in the dyeing of cottton textiles; used to produce phenacetin as well as sodium hyposulfite,sodium hydrosulphide and sodium polysulfide etc.
